Courmayeur ski resort information
Courmayeur (1,224 m altitude) is an Italian town in the autonomous region of Aosta Valley, in northern Italy. Courmayeur is an alpine resort located at the foot of Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in Europe. Boasting centuries of history and a world-wide fame. It is a multi- coloured world with plenty of traditions and folklore where every guest can spend an unforgettable holiday.
The ski resort contains 24 modern and functional lifts (cablecars, chair lifts, ski-lifts). Courmayeur offers 100 kilometres of fun on the snow: downhill slopes, off-pist and cross-country skiing in the Ferret Valley. Snowmaking machines always ensure excellent snow conditions.
The ski resort of the "Courmayeur Mont Blanc Cablecar" Company covers two sides of the mountain. The north-east facing Chécrouit consists of wide open plateaux without trees that enjoys the sun in the morning. The Val Veny facing north-west has wide runs through the woods and is sunny in the afternoon. Everywhere in the resort it is possible to admire the imposing sight of the Monte Bianco chain (4810 m.), the highest mountains in Europe.
The slopes are reachable with the "Courmayeur" and "Val Veny" cablecars and with the "Dolonne" gondola from the centre, from Entrèves village and from Dolonne village respectively. The two sides are connected up by a large network of lifts and runs.
Fun Park Dolonne
The fun park represents a modern solution for the amusement on the snow. 3 conveyor belt lifts, snow tubes pists, inflatable and soft games for kids, ski instructors for your first step on the snow, there is also the possibility to experience the crazy descents with ski fox and snow bike.
Cross Country Skiing - Val Ferret
Courmayeur offers to the cross-country lovers an interesting range of slopes in a typically alpine environment with wonderful forests covered with snow from November to May.
The Val Ferret is placed at the foot of the Mont Blanc chain. The slopes, always tracked and beaten, start from the suggested village of Planpincieux (1580 m.) and go on along the valley to Lavachey or, for those feeling brave, to Arp Nouvaz. It's possible to choose from the many detours on the runs to make your way longer or shorter from 3 to 20 km. In the Val Ferret there are several bars, restaurants, the ski school and Assistance Services for skiers and where you can rent any equipment you may need.
Circular track Planpincieux - Lavachey 9 km (easy)
Circular track (varying) Planpincieux - Lavachey 10 km (middle difficulty)
Along the road to the Colle San Carlo, 7 km from Morgex, lies the valley of Arpy with its larch and fir woods and the crystalline steam that runs through the typical stone-house village. It has an eighteenth century chapel and a glorious mining past of which the attentive observer can still find signs all over the territory. This captivating scenery is the backdrop to the winter season and the cross-country skiing slopes(from 2 to 7.5 km), where every year many regional and national competitions take place. The starting-point is the Foyer of cross-country skiing, situated at Arpy's youth hostel. Inside you will find a dressing room, showers, ski wax making room, bar and restaurant available to all. For children there is an equipped playing area inside the "Foyer" and a playground reserved for bob and sledge slopes outside.
The Mont Blanc Valley is a paradise for off-piste skiing, at both technical and panoramic level. You can find high class ways like the Vallée Blanche, the Toula glacier and wonderful slopes all over the area
